Why Private Coaching is Preferred over Coaching Classes?

home tutor

As parents, you always have a conflict in choosing right coaching service for your child, be it private or different coaching centers. Below, we are providing you broad comparisons between private coaching as well as coaching classes. May be this article will help you in making a better decision for your child’s academic career.

Now- a -days, we see an increase in the number of coaching classes. Although Coaching Classes provide innumerable facilities that private coaching doesn’t. But as it is said there are two sides to the same coin. Coaching classes has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Coaching classes provide notes which a private coach doesn’t. But where private coaches are concerned they are available at student’s convenience of place, day and time. Also the coaching classes teach according to a schedule and go at a pace to complete the syllabus without any concerns taken for a student.

Private coaching makes your child study according to their pace, their learning and grasping capability. As the teaching in this method is done according to your child, hence, the child can study, learn and able to perform better in their exams. In coaching classes, with the batches up to max of 60 students/batch, they are not able to concentrate and grasp what the professor is teaching.

In private coaching, doubts are cleared on the spot whereas in coaching classes if any doubt is raised by a child, then that doubt is to be asked at the end of the lecture, where there is a 50-50 chance of getting cleared hence the doubt remains the same till the end of the semester and/or year. Now if we pay fees at coaching classes, then we as parents want that everything/ every concept should be cleared by the professor for our child.

Now if we consider traffic on the road for traveling to a class is an issue for another day. Traveling in summers is havoc. Plus the time wasted to travel from home to classes is also an issue for some. In private coaching, everything that is mentioned above is void. The coach comes at your place, teaches your child, in this way you can also keep an eye on your child whether they are studying and asking doubts properly or not. And now that you know the comparisons, we hope you make the right choice for your child’s academic career.

We as an institution, provide private tutors who teach your child at their convenience of place, day and time. There are no hassles in private coaching, therefore these days they are more preferred than coaching classes.

Tips to Boost Your Exam Performance

As we march towards the exam season, it is important to know where you stand in terms of writing your exams. Exams are the way to test your knowledge and understanding of your syllabi and they are also used to test your skills. Some of the students have fear while appearing for exams. They start to feel anxious, they doubt themselves even after they have studied and given their 100% to the subjects. Don’t worry we are here, ready to provide you some tips which will help you during this tenseness of exams and also make you cent percent confident while you are appearing for them.

First five tips are how you should study for your exams:

  1. Give yourself enough time to study: Here, the general tendency of a student is to study at the last moment or keep some topics for the last moment. That is a bad practice. We believe that you should start preparing way before your exams are so that during the breaks between the exams you can revise and recollect the curriculum properly and easily.
  2. Use flowcharts and diagrams: As it is said, “Images speak louder than words” that’s what applies here. Use flowcharts and diagrams and mind map associations to remember difficult topics. Helps in faster revision of difficult topics and they are easier to remember.
  3. Practice on old exams: Generally, the people setting the exam papers have the tendency to set papers from old exam papers so that the students not only attempt the current syllabus questions but also test their knowledge from the older portion too. So we advise you to also go through old exam papers and maybe you score better who haven’t seen the old papers.
  4. Organize study groups: Studying in groups has been proven beneficial for students. As they get a chance to teach others and also have a better recollection of the material they have studied and also get their doubts cleared from their group of friends.
  5. Take regular breaks: As studying is important during exams, taking break is equally important. Give your brain some rest by taking small naps in between your study sessions. This has proven very helpful in storing information for longer duration in your brain and makes it easy to recollect during your exam writing.

And the next five tips are for the exam day:

  6. Waking up early: Wake up early on the exam day so that you don’t have to rush for your exam venue. And also it is very important that you don’t skip your night’s sleep. Night’s sleep will keep you fresh during the duration of the exam.
  7. Check ID, stationery: Before leaving for your exam, remember to take your ID, required stationery and water to keep you hydrated during the exam.
  8. Answering your exam: Answer those questions first you feel most confident about. Leave the questions you are unsure about in the end so that you don’t waste much time in recollecting those.
  9. Review: Review your answers before handing out your answer sheet. Check that you have attempted the questions you were confident, check for spelling mistakes and also check if you have any space left for the answers you attempted but were unsure about. Don’t leave any blank spaces in exam sheet chances are you get your marks deducted for that.
  10. Stay calm: Last but not the least, you need to stay calm. The nervousness before exam will make you blank and all the efforts you have put in will go to waste. Make sure you also stay hydrated. Keep yourself by taking deep breaths, this will steady your heartbeats and bring down your nervousness.

We hope these tips may help you during your exam and boost your performance.

Tips to improve your memory

As we saw in the previous post, there were some tips which will help you in studying. But after studying, you need to keep that content intact in your brain. We know storing all that information is a difficult task. Knowing that we are providing you some tips for improving your memory which will help you recollect that content easily during your exam revision.

  1. Writing practice: Writing on paper or on-screen helps you remember the things and other important information more easily. Writing practice has proven to be beneficial when you have at least a month in your hand and by seeing words in your own handwriting helps memorizing content in an efficient way and also recollection of the same is a faster process.

  3. Nap: Yes, you read it right, a nap. As our brains are wired to stay focused on one task only for some duration and after that one requires a break. And taking a nap in between study sessions has been proven to be beneficial. As we give rest to our brains, the brain assimilates the information before you took the nap and helps you recollect the same sooner. And napping also helps grasping newer information more easily and with more concentration.

  4. Mental associations and mind map: In this technique, you need to break down the concepts which are difficult to understand and map them with the things/topics you can easily relate with. And map that content with the help of a flow chart and/or any other form of association diagrams. These diagrams and maps will help you remember easily and also recollection won’t be a problem.

  5. Flashcards: Another form of improving your memory and remembering concepts is flashcards. Flashcards with all types of sizes and colors will store information in your brain in an efficient way. Because of the colors associated with the topics you will easily be able to recollect the information. Create flashcards for all the topics or only for key concepts, quotes, important dates or formulae and use them just before exam and this will help you secure good score in your exams.

  6. Mnemonics: Another form of remembering difficult concepts and formulae is creating a mnemonic. According to the dictionary meaning of mnemonics is a system such as pattern of letters, ideas or associations which assists in remembering something. This technique has been designed to aid the memory.

  7. Repetition: All of the above techniques work only if you keep them on repeating them. There is no need to mug up but by repeating the information it gets stored in a faster way and stays in memory for a longer period of time.

  8. Practice: Practice is important if you want to remember the concepts. You need to keep practicing unless you don’t have a difficulty remembering it.

*The most important tip to improve your memory and this will also help you in your studies is that you should not stay up all night before an exam. get adequate rest at nights, when you sleep, the brain assimilates the information. This in turn will help you remember stuff more faster*

We hope these techniques will help you in improving your memory and also help you to better your performance in all your exams.

Study Tips

As we all know the exam season is about to start and all the children have buckled themselves up for the storm and started preparing ferociously. We as an organization in private tuitions have decided to share some of the study tips which we found helpful during our time and are also effective even today. We are not as old as we seem. (sigh)

Following are some of the tips we found interesting enough for you. Take a look and give it a try:

  1. Basic Concepts: Today’s generation finds it really hard to believe that basic concept is the key to study every other topic from the book. So the first and the foremost tip is to clear your basic concepts and then move on to studying the critical ones.

    basics

  2. Breaking down critical concepts: After clearing the basic concepts, next step is to try and understand more critical concepts which are related to the basics which you cleared. And you can do this by breaking down the critical concepts or topics into smaller ones and study them with the basic concept. In this way, you get thorough with basic as well as the critical concepts.

  3. Remembering difficult topics: If any topic is difficult to remember even after understanding and being thorough with the concepts you need a way to memorize it. The technique to this is take some sticky notes and use a range of colors available according to the criticality of the topic and jot down the points of that topic and stick them where you spend your most of the time be it your cupboard, study table or even a drawing room. The more you see it with different colors it will easy for you to remember.

  4. Setting study goals: Set study goals for yourself. This tip will help you plan your subjects and makes you study in a disciplined manner. Also, be realistic while setting the goals. For example, if you can study only small portion of a lesson in an hour without any distraction, make sure the goal you set is for one hour and you give your 100% to it.

  5. Reward yourself: After putting your 100% in that hour you deserve a reward for achieving your goal. Be it a chocolate, a power nap or an hour long of your favorite series episode. But don’t forget to come back for studies.

  6. Test yourself: After all that studying it’s time. Yes, the time for a test. You need to test your knowledge and see how much of the stuff from those study hours you remember. Do not skip this part as this will tell you much you have remembered and where do you lack and what you need to improve.

  7. Be positive: This tip sounds to be very useful especially during exams but we like to consider this is as a general tip for your life too. To keep yourself positive you need to do yoga or meditation for at least 5-10 minutes daily. This will not only help you stay calm the whole day also it will increase your concentration power during your study hours.

  8. Study in groups: If you are group person, then studying in group won’t and shouldn’t be a problem for you. But here, you need to find friends and acquaintances who gel up with you easily and are ready to study with you. Group study has proven an important phase in enhancing the learning of people. By helping others, you become thorough with the topic as well as you come to know where you lack and you can ask for their help on those difficult topics.
Important tip: If you find group study distracting you and other people we suggest you not to go for this hack especially when the exams are near you’ll end up wasting more time rather than studying.

  9. Clearing your doubts: After rigorous hours of studying individually as well as in the group if you think any topic is still unresolved you need to clear your doubts from your teacher of that subject. Don’t hesitate in asking their help. They might make you understand that topic in a better way. And don’t forget to study that topic.

    clearing-doubts

  10. Never force yourself: Never ever force yourself to study. A human mind can only concentrate for 30-40 minutes straight. If you feel you have crossed that threshold, pause your studying and do a physical activity like walking or listen to some calm music or take a power nap to rest your brain and then resume – repeat.

These tips have helped us and many others during their exam phase. We hope you follow them and score good marks and secure good college/university and be successful in life.
